FEAR & WORRY

Fear is a protective measure. Children are born with fear as a part of their software. The more vulnerable the person is, the more fearful he/she will be. Children, disabled people, and some elderly people specially if they live alone or they live in troubled areas.

Fear is generally an automatic reaction to the unknown or the imagined. Normal fear is physiological, but there are types of fear, especially the exaggerated fear, that is not normal and usually is pathological or perhaps psychological, or could be a temporary measure as a reflection of stress, anxiety, lack of confidence, or sudden vulnerability, or exposure to fearful incidents such as assault, burglary, or explosions and war news on the media.

Worry on the other hand is different. Worry in a way can be considered as a precursor for fear. If you like to beat feat, you must not let worry to find its way to your mind or your calculations.
worry about losing valuables makes you lose them !.
There are two types of worry:

- Physiological worry: worried about your future, worried about the welfare of your children, worried about inflation, governmental policies, garden fence falling in a windy day, etc.
- Pathological worries: Most of the worries in this category are a reflection of internal feelings of lack of security. Pathological worries can be a reflection of: Depression, chronic illnesses, lack of confidence, and vulnerability due to any reason, but chronic illness and senility are good examples.
Excessive fear and frequent worries can sometimes reflect the underlying lack of confidence, and lack of self esteem.

How can you build up your confidence and self esteem?

Every one of us was built with internal powers, and a will to use them. People then grow up with different levels of abilities to use their own internal resources. There are many factors which might influence that such as hereditary factors, social factors, cultural factors, false believes, and previous bad experiences. Those factors need to be identified by the same person, family, or a professional person(doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, nurse, or other health professionals including social workers). If any causative factor or factors could be identified, they must be sorted out this way or that way. If nothing could be identified, or nothing to be identified; then the appropriate therapy should be considered.
How can any one of us build up self confidence?

That can be done by the person, relative, friend, or a professional. Self building up of the confidence can be achieved by knowing yourself in a very clear and open way. See yourself like seeing your face in a mirror. Accept what you see or identify. Try hard not to deny weakness or vulnerability. Search inside yourself for your hidden powers. Look at your strengths, and try to see more of your powers and abilities than your weaknesses, and pitfalls. Talking to own self in your own environment can be very helpful. Try always to see your positive things, those you are good at. Build on your strengths, and try hard to avoid your mistakes by not repeating them through serious learning from them. You can only learn from your mistakes if you realise them, admit them, review them, ponder about them, and learn the lessons after outlining them. Ask for professional help if you have failed to do that.

Always remember that: every person has powers, and every person has will…. also, every person has the ability to search for their hidden powers, demeaned will, and lost self esteem.
Always believe in yourself, and be optimistic. Look forward and believe deep inside yourself that tomorrow is going to be better than today. If not tomorrow, then the day after tomorrow, and so on.
Believe as well that after every hard time always comes the good time. The only question in such circumstances is: when?!. Who cares that much about when?!. Life is longer than a day or a year or a century. You can always wait with patience for that day when things get better… and it will.
